Update October 5th 2020

All systems go!

With four months to go and with the whole of New Zealand at Alert Level 1 from midweek, we have decided that Nash Hash 2021 will be a goer, with a few provisos.

We have managed to secure Covid opt-out clauses for most of our big expenses, and plan a slightly scaled down event with large numbers of overseas visitors not expected to be able to attend. Our original budgeting was based on a 300 hasher event, whereas now we expect far fewer to attend and will have to cut costs in certain areas. We’re sure you’ll understand.

We’ll still have an awesome event with a great venue, some fantastic trails, a superb band and plenty of grog and good food to stuff your faces with. We plan to go ahead on the basis that things remain the same or get better. That is all we can do.

Should New Zealand be in Alert Level 2 or higher in January 2021, we will be forced to cancel the event at potentially short notice as gatherings of over 100 are not allowed at these levels.

For our Australian friends the situation is developing rapidly, and we sincerely hope that by February, the Covid situation will allow you to come on over. For those from the wider world, it seems unlikely you will be able to enter New Zealand, certainly not without a two week quarantine at your own expense - currently NZD3100.

Anyone wanting to buy a rego, please see the regos for sale page on the website. Anyone wanting to sell, please email NZNH21info@gmail.com to have your rego listed for sale.

Watch out for further updates including details on the Red Dress R*n, and Pania Plodders 2000th run which will be held on Monday 8th February 2021 with an early kick-off for those of you wanting to get away.

Important Update 1st September 2020

Greetings fellow hashers
No doubt some of you have been wondering what's going on here at Nash Hash HQ. So have we! The latest setback in covid cases came as a bit of a shock to all of us. We remain on course for our 5th October D-day decision, and discussed matters at length again in our latest committee meeting. We are still planning to hold an awesome event, and only external factors will prevent us from doing so. As things stand it is looking increasingly unlikely that non NZ citizens or residents will be able to enter the country, particularly from outside the Australasia region. We are not restricting the event to Kiwis, but sadly we may end up with a mostly Kiwi event.
At the moment we have a number of Kiwis on the waiting list for regos, and keen to secure their place, so if you are thinking about selling, please let us know at nznh21info@gmail.com and we will put you in touch with a buyer. Likewise, any NZ residents who would like to go on the waiting list please contact us on the same email.

Important Covid 19 Update May 2020

Greetings fellow hashers,

At a recent committee meeting the committee discussed how to proceed under the Covid19 restrictions placed on people attending group gatherings.
We talked about this at length and agreed that we will watch over the next 4 months on what the New Zealand Government decisions are on increasing maximum numbers of people attending an event like ours.

October 5th we have allocated as ‘’D’’ Day to decide whether it's doomed, exploded, gone up in a puff of smoke, buggered or all systems go, unless we get any clearer instructions beforehand. Obviously we would like to give you as much notice as possible - and ourselves for that matter.

1st   of all we have crunched the numbers and we have approximately

170 kiwi registrations,
105 from the West Island
45 from the wider world

2nd   As things stand, pretty much all non-New Zealand citizens are banned from entering

3rd   All gatherings over 100 people are banned

There is talk of a Trans-Tasman bubble.

If gathering sizes are increased sufficiently, we will have an event, which may or may not be able to accommodate our cousins from across the Tasman. It is looking unlikely that our hash friends from outside the region will be able to attend, at least not without having to sit out 2 weeks quarantine at their own expense

If we have to pull the plug on 5th October Shunter, NZGM has agreed to call a Zoom meeting with the ex NZGM’s to discuss the way forwards if things are looking bad. We will consider ‘’do we cancel,’’ ‘’do we transfer all registrations over to the Nash Hash,’’ ‘’do we postpone the Napier event for two years,’’ and so on. All this is new and unchartered territory and has never been encountered. Anyone wanting to cancel after 5th October due to travel restrictions will be offered a refund.

We will all be watching the Kiwi news with great interest over the next 4 months.

2nd June 2019
. Due to a change of ownership, our proposed venue is no longer available. The committee is working hard on a replacement and currently has two very promising alternatives under investigation. Watch this space for further updates.
